Cyclone Arnab to hit Andhra Pradesh on Wednesday morning
- IMD: now a severe cyclonic storm, likely very severe within 12 hours
- Landfall: Bapatla–Visakhapatnam coast, 28 October; gusts to 140 km/h
- Railways cancelled 53 trains for 27 and 28 October on Andhra routes

On Monday evening the storm was about 490 km from Visakhapatnam, moving west at 17 km/h. Schools are shut in many coastal Andhra districts, and Odisha has closed schools in its southern districts on 28 and 29 October. Andhra Pradesh has released ₹27 crore for relief and plans to move 4,711 pregnant women to hospitals. Fishermen have been called back and beaches are closed.

Central government pensioners under 80 can give their life certificate from 1 November
- Pensioners under 80 can submit from 1 November; those 80 and above could start on 1 October
- Last date: 30 November, or the December pension may be held back
- It can be done at home by face scan on a phone, through Jeevan Pramaan
Why it mattersIf an older parent gets a pension, help them do it early in November and keep the confirmation message.

The face scan uses the Jeevan Pramaan and Aadhaar FaceRD apps. Keep ready the Aadhaar number, the Pension Payment Order (PPO) number and the name of the bank that pays the pension. Pensioners can also go to their bank branch, or ask India Post Payments Bank for a doorstep visit for a small fee.

A student's ₹6,450 loss on an Instagram shopping ad led Delhi Police to a ₹30 crore fraud network
- She ordered a ₹799 kurti, then was asked to pay for a 'passcode' and a 'refundable' charge
- Police found about 25 bank accounts in fake firms' names, moving over ₹30 crore
- Seven men were arrested in Greater Noida and Kanpur; 39 card machines were seized
Why it mattersA real shop never asks you to pay extra to receive a parcel or a refund. Stop there, and report it on 1930.
Police linked 27 complaints from different states to the same network.

The ad moved the buyer from Instagram to WhatsApp, a common first sign. Police say the gang opened accounts for fake firms and passed them on to fraudsters for money. They seized 20 phones, 45 SIM cards and 33 debit cards. Report fraud at cybercrime.gov.in.

- The Houthis claim attacks on the East-West oil pipeline's pumping stations and Riyadh airport

- In September, a clip of trees swaying in rain was shared as 'Cyclone Arnab' in Odisha

- Posts with it claimed 10 boats sank in Odisha; the video was not from there
Why it mattersWith the real cyclone due on Wednesday, old clips will spread again. Trust IMD and district officials for warnings.

In September, a deep depression brought heavy rain to Odisha and Andhra, and people online called it 'Cyclone Arnab', though IMD never named it. The name was only given this week, to the storm now in the Bay of Bengal. Videos without a place, date or source are the ones to doubt.

The evidence
The 2013 study in Science, led by Lulu Xie and Maiken Nedergaard, found that the brain's cleaning system works much faster during sleep than when awake. It was done in mice, so the exact numbers may differ in people, but it helps explain why poor sleep leaves the mind foggy.
