On Saturday evening the system was about 820 km east-south-east of Visakhapatnam. IMD expects it to strengthen to a severe cyclonic storm by Tuesday morning; it is expected to be named Arnab once it becomes a cyclonic storm. Gusts could reach 140 km/h at landfall. Cooking gas: finish your Aadhaar check, or subsidised refills wait

- Since 1 October, subsidised refills need a biometric Aadhaar check first
- About 9 in 10 have done it; you can do it at home on your gas company's app
- 14.2 kg cylinder: ₹942 Delhi, ₹944.50 Bengaluru; next review 1 November
Why it mattersRefill stuck? This check is the likely cause; Ujjwala users who skip it miss the subsidy.
e-KYC Proving who you are online, here with an Aadhaar face or fingerprint scan.

You can complete the check when the cylinder is delivered, at your distributor's office, or at home using your oil company's app together with the Aadhaar FaceRD app. Those who don't want to do it can still buy gas at the market price without subsidy. Domestic cylinder prices have not changed since 7 June; commercial 19 kg prices are revised every month and rose in October. The oil companies announce any change on the 1st of the month.

3 of 10What changes for you
From 1 November, your phone will show the caller's registered name, even for unsaved numbers
- DoT: caller name display is on by default from 1 November
- It works on 4G and 5G first; 2G, 3G and landlines will be decided later
- The name comes from the caller's SIM records, not from an app
Why it mattersA name on screen does not prove a call is genuine. Never share an OTP, PIN or bank details because of it.
CLIR Calling Line Identification Restriction: a setting that hides your number, and your name, from people you call.
Saved contacts still show the name you stored; calls from abroad from unsaved numbers will show as 'International Call'.

The service is called Calling Name Presentation, or CNAP. A DoT circular dated 13 October made it the default. Businesses can ask to show a registered trademark or GST trade name. If your own name is wrong or out of date in your operator's records, callers will see that, so ask your operator to correct it. Operators must not keep the looked-up names after the call ends.

A message with the chairman's photo: one company lost ₹50 lakh to the 'boss on WhatsApp' scam
- An unknown number used the CMD's photo and told an employee to transfer ₹1 crore
- The employee sent ₹50 lakh from the company account before realising it was fake
- Faridabad police arrested six people from Mumbai and Gujarat who ran the receiving account
Why it mattersIf 'your boss' messages from a new number asking for urgent money or gift cards, call them on the number you already have before doing anything.
These messages usually say the boss is 'in a meeting and can't talk', so the employee won't call to check.

Staring at a screen? You blink far less, and that dries your eyes
- Each blink spreads a thin tear film that keeps the front of the eye smooth and clear
- When we stare at screens we blink about five times less often
- Fewer blinks let the tear film break up, so eyes feel dry, gritty or tired
Do todayTry the 20-20-20 habit today: every 20 minutes, look at something about 20 feet away for 20 seconds, and blink fully a few times.
If your eyes stay red or painful, or your vision blurs, see an eye doctor.
The evidence
A 1991 study in Optometry and Vision Science measured healthy volunteers and found their blink rate fell about five-fold while they worked at a computer screen. Keeping the screen a little below eye level and an arm's length away also helps, because your eyes open less wide when you look down.
