Indian shares opened higher on Wednesday after Tuesday's Dussehra holiday, recovering part of Monday's 876-point fall. By 9:20 am the Sensex was at 74,488.60, up 0.86%, and the Nifty 50 had climbed 0.80% to 23,071.10.
All 16 major sector indices rose in early trade. IT shares led: Infosys gained 3.28% and TCS 2.69%, and L&T Technology Services jumped about 10% after better-than-expected quarterly results. Reliance Industries rose 2.65% as its Jio Platforms IPO opened.
The mood was helped by US President Donald Trump saying the two countries were "pretty close" to a trade deal. The rupee was steady near 94.70 to the dollar, and Brent crude was around $110 a barrel.
