Brent crude rose about 1.6% to roughly $111.4 a barrel on Tuesday, its highest in five months and within about $3 of its early-May peak. It is up about 11% in a month.
Prices jumped after Yemen's Houthi movement claimed attacks on Saudi energy and military sites, including an Aramco facility in Yanbu and the Shaybah oilfield. The shipping tracker Kpler counted at least 18 vessels attacked in the past two weeks.
Indian share markets were closed for Dussehra, so the oil jump will hit Dalal Street on Wednesday. On Monday the Sensex fell 876 points as oil crossed $108. The MCX commodity exchange reopened at 5 pm for its evening session.
